Stafne bone cyst of mandible: A case report with comprehensive imaging features using cone beam computed tomography and literature review

چکیده
Stafne’s bone cyst (SBC) is a rare, asymptomatic, unilateral oval shaped radiolucent defect mostly in the posterior region of mandible below inferior alveolar canal. This report describes case SBC Central Indian Population, which was an incidental finding 65-year old male patient who presented with pain. article also highlights literature, differential diagnosis along use various diagnostic imaging resources, features and management for this adds new to literature.

Bilocular Stafne Bone Defect above And Below the Inferior Alveolar Canal Assessed by Cone Beam Computed Tomography: A Case Report
Stafne bone defect is a bone depression containing salivary gland or fatty soft tissue on the lingual surface of the mandible. The most common location is within the submandibular gland fossa and often close to the inferior border of the mandible. This defect is asymptomatic and generally discovered only incidentally during radiographic examination of the area. Stafne bone defect appears as a w...
متن کاملCone Beam Computed Tomography(CBCT) Features Of A Rare Fibro-Osseous Lesion: A Case Report
Cone beam computed tomography is a useful technique for imaging the craniofacial lesions. It produces more realistic images that facilitate interpretation. Juvenile ossifying fibroma (JOF) is a rare and benign fibro-osseous neoplasm that arises within the craniofacial bones, especially in the maxilla. Mandibular lesions can be seen in 10% of the cases. In both jaws, it has a predilection for the...
متن کاملStafne bone cavity and cone-beam computed tomography: a report of two cases
In 1942 Stafne reported 35 asymptomatic, radiolucent cavities that were unilaterally located in the posterior region of the mandible between the mandibular angle and the third molar, and below the mandibular canal. The term Stafne bone cavity (SBC) is now used for such asymptomatic lingual bone depressions of the lower jaw. Since then there have been many reports of SBCs but very fews tudies ha...
متن کاملANEURYSMAL BONE CYST ASSOCIATED WITH A PATHOLOGIC FRACTURE OF THE MANDIBLE: A CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW
Pathologic fractures of the jaw are usually associated with aggressive, destructive lesions or malignant lesions of the jaws. Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABC) of the jaws are benign lesions which normally do not cause destruction to such an extent. This article reports a relatively aggressive ABC of the mandible in a 19 year-old male which destroyed the buccal and lingual cortices as well as th...
متن کاملStafne Bone Cyst - Case Report
Stafne’s cysts is often defined as static lesions located in the angle of the mandible. Defect ranges from 0.10% to 0.48%, with a male-to-female ratio of 4 to 1. Most of these painless lesions occur in the fifth and sixth decade of life. They are round or ovoid, and their sizes vary between 0.5 cm and 2.0 cm in diameter. This lesion is easily diagnosed from the radiographs as they appear at a t...
